About us
Situated in the pretty village of Holyport, set back from the green and overlooking the village pond, The Belgian Arms is a favourite with locals and visitors to the area alike.
We offer really tasty British food that’s beautifully cooked, a great selection of wines and a really good pint.
The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly. The Belgian Arms is the ideal spot for meeting up with family and friends, an informal business lunch or dinner and simply having fun.
The Belgian Arms is over 200 years old. Prior to the First World War it was known as ‘The Eagle’. During the war the prisoner of war camp was at the end of Holyport Street and the Germans used to march past and salute the Eagle. Many of the local villagers fought in Belgium and therefore it was decided to rename the pub ‘The Belgian Arms’.
The Belgian is ideal for all seasons. In the winter months the roaring fires create a warm and cosy atmosphere. While in the summer you can unwind by the willow trees overlooking the village pond.
The emphasis is on ‘simplicity’ at The Belgian Arms, which is reflected in the earthy decor and friendly and efficient manner of the staff. The menu offers good British food, which is fresh, seasonal and prepared using solid cooking techniques. The flavours are clean and the dishes are really tasty.
The wine list has been devised to compliment the menu and offer a variety of titles to appeal to all palates and purses.
Our ambition is to create a pub that offers all the ingredients a good pub should – Great food, excellent wine and beer, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and an efficient service – nothing fussy just ‘very very good’.
